Fashion Designing courses @ NIFT, Last date: December 29

Application invited for the admission to different courses in designing conducted by NIFT [National Institute of Fashion technology].  It is a national level entrance examination organized by the NIFT, Mumbai. National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) offers various UG & PG professional courses in its affiliated campuses. These courses are offered in the field of fashion & designing. Candidates are able to fill the NIFT Admission Form 2018 through online mode from NIFT website. The Pen and Paper based test will be conducted for admissions to across for Bachelor of Design, Bachelor of Fashion, Master of Design, Bachelor of Fashion Technology, Master of Fashion Management and Master of Fashion Technology offered across 16 campuses located in New Delhi, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Patna, Raebareli, Shillong and Srinagar 

  • There is only online mode to submit the application form
  • Candidate can fill the application form till 29th December 2017 without late fee.
  • After the last date of form filling, candidates can fill the application with a late fee of Rs. 5000 till 2nd January 2018.
  • Candidates have to upload their scanned images, i.e. Photograph & Signature in a JPEG format.
  • Keep the printout of the filled application form for further reference.

Application Fee:

  • The application fee is Rs. 1500 (Rs 750 for ST/SC/PHP categories). Candidates can pay the application fee through online mode (credit/debit card) and offline mode (DD).
  • The Demand Draft should be made in favour of “NIFT HO” payable at New Delhi. Candidates, those pay the fee through DD they have to submit the filled application form along with DD in the given address:

Eligibility:

B. Des 

  • Candidates should passed Secondary School Examination/10th or; Passed Senior Secondary Exam /12th recognized by AIU; and 
  • Candidates should passed 3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE/AIU/UGC or a State Board of Technical Education; and 
  • Having attended courses related to Fashion/Apparel/Textile and Accessories/Home Science/ Handloom Technology/Products/Visual Communication/Graphic Design/Industrial Design / Interior Design/Multimedia Design/Apparel Technology/Leather or 
  • Students who have completed 2 year regular UG Diploma Programme at NIFT 

B. F Tech 

  • Candidates should passed Secondary School Examination/10th and; passed 3 or 4-years textile technology / textile engineering/textile chemistry diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education or; 
  • Candidates should passed Senior Secondary Exam/12th recognized by AIU recognized by AIU with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; and; having successfully completed diploma (including NIFT) of minimum 02 year duration related to Fashion/Apparel/Textile/Home Science/ Handloom Technology 
  • Candidates having science background with a Diploma/ Degree in engineering may apply for Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production) programme as well as Bachelor of Design Programme 
  • Other candidates having aptitude for creativity/innovation/fashion design may apply for Bachelor of Design Programme 

Maximum Age 

  • 24 years as on 01st October; the upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribe/ Persons With Disabilities (PWD) 

M. Des 

  • Candidates should passed B.Des degree from recognized institution or; Diploma in UG design from NIFT/NID only; or Undergraduate diploma of 3-years from NIFT/NID 
    Appearing candidates can also apply 

MFM 

  • Undergraduate degree from recognized institution or; undergraduate diploma of 3-years from NIFT/NID; appearing candidates can also apply 

M. F. Tech 

  • The prescribed qualification is B.F.Tech from NIFT or; B.E./B.Tech degree from a recognized institution; appearing candidates can also apply  

Age Criteria 

  • Age Limit - No prescribed age limit for PG courses

Application Procedure:

  • Go to the official website.
  • Click on that link.
  • Read the instructions carefully to fill the application form.
  • Fill your basic details to login to apply online such as candidate name, date of birth, category, email id, programme type, programme applied for, etc.
  • Now, click on the submit button.
  • Click on the “Proceed to Login”.
  • Login with the “Email Id” & “Date or Birth” & click on the submit button.
  • Select Step 1 & fill the application form correctly.
  • After filling all the details, click on the “Save” button.
  • Now, select step 2 for uploading scanned photograph & signature.
  • The size of the upload images should not be greater than 50 KB & image size should be JPG/JPEG format.
  • Now, Click on the next button.
  • Select the mode of payment and pay the requisite fee.
  • Note down your reference number for future use.
  • At last take a printout of the application form for future reference

Exam Pattern:

The  exam pattern comprises of GAT, CAT & GD/PI.

General Ability Test (GAT) is the written test for all the 5 courses offered by NIFT. For B.Des and M.Des courses, GAT is the first test for selection in NIFT. After GAT, B.Des & M.Des aspirants are required to qualify the CAT (Creative Ability Test). Candidates who will qualify both the written tests will be eligible for Situation Test (in case of B.Des) and GD/PI (in case of M.Des).

 

For B.F.Tech, GAT is the only selection test. MFM & M.F.Tech candidates are required to participate in GD/PI after qualifying the GAT.

 

Exam Mode: For all courses, GAT will be conducted in offline mode (PBT).

Exam duration: The duration of GAT written test will be 2 hours (for B.Des & M.Des) and 3 hours (for B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech).

Number of Questions: Total 100 questions will be asked in GAT for B.Des and 120 questionswill be asked for M.Des. 150 questions will be asked in B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech.

Language: The paper medium will be English only.

Papers: For B.Des and M.Des, two written exams will be conducted i.e. GAT & CAT whereas for B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech only GAT will be conducted.

Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking.

Admit Card:

  • Admit card of eligible candidates will be available for downloading from 9th January 2018.
  • Admit card will not be sent via post.
  • Candidates have to mandatory carry the admit card to the test center on the day of examination.

 

Result:

  • NIFT 2018 result will be declared in the month of February/March 2018.
  • The result will be declared online on the official website of NIFT.
  • The result of B.F.Tech will be prepared on the basis of GAT only.
  • B.Des result will be prepared on the basis of GAT, CAT and Situation Test while M.Des result will be prepared on the basis of GAT, CAT, GD/PI.
  • The final result of MFM and M.F.Tech will be declared on the basis of GAT and GD/PI.

Admit Card:

  • The final result of MFM and M.F.Tech will be declared on the basis of GAT and GD/PI.

Counselling:

  • The counselling schedule will be released on the official website of NIFT in the month of April/May 2018.
  • All the qualified candidates must necessarily participate in NIFT  counselling to get admission.

Admission:

  • NIFT  admission will start after the declaration of result and merit list.
  • At the time of admission, candidates have to carry original as well as photocopies of all the prescribed documents for verification purpose.
